    A Clockwork Orange


    While I do think the violence is somewhat exploitative and Kubrick seems to take pleasure in filming the rape scenes, this was a really thought-provoking watch.

    It made me think a lot about whether true reformation is really possible, and even more so about how our society is really not equipped to reincorporate felons. Felons do deserve a chance to try to make something good out of their lives, and often society makes that so goddamn hard, even impossible.

    Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark


    I came for some good spooky creatures and in that regard I was mostly satisfied! But boy is there a lot of bad to sift through to get to the good. As much as I enjoyed the setpieces, it really takes a lot of time in between with shallowly drawn characters and lazy exposition.

    Still worth watching for some quality horror filmmaking though. The scarecrow sequence in particular is done very well; the way the camera lingers on the scarecrow…
