I actually really enjoyed this. There's some things I didn't like, but overall, even though I understand the reception it got, I think it gets too much shit.
Adam Driver and Bill Murray have awesome chemistry and most of the meta humor worked for me. Tilda Swinton's character was a lot of fun, Tom Waits was cool to see and I really dug the dry sense of humor for the most part. It was obviously slow, but I never felt bored.
That said, the things I didn't like really annoyed me. There's way too many subplots, for one. I wouldn't mind if they were all as entertaining as the one with Caleb Landry Jones, but they were mostly pretty pointless. I normally wouldn't mind, but not only does it waste time, they just weren't very funny and the anti-fracking stance of the film couldn't be any more on the nose and spoonfed to you. I fucking hated those child actors.
That said, I had a good time and I think there's enough good here to justify seeing it.
I wanna see Adam Driver in a Wes Anderson film.
