There's a lot of interesting ideas going on but they never really go that far with any of them and it ends up a bit messy and sticking in too many different directions that don't get wrapped up. But good performances for the most part and it looks good.
How this is not considered one of the finest action movies of the decade is beyond me. It is brutal, hard-hitting, exhilarating and contains a world so fully realized that I have to smile. The costumes, the mayan decorations, the jungle, the temples, everything is perfect. Equally colorful and real, the film juggles emotions and violent action wonderfully. It's a powerful movie that never lets up or looks back. One of my all-time favorites. I wish people could look beyond…
