Aaron T. Rex’s review published on Letterboxd:
I've been up and down with this since I came out of the theatre. At first I was a little disappointed but I don't think that's quite it. It was kind of different than I had expected. It was very similar to Goodfellas, only I feel Goodfellas pulls you in a little more emotionally. At first I felt that this was a problem, that I didn't care enough about anyone in Wolf, but it encompasses so much. And DiCaprio. So phenomenally fantastic. The man gives it absolutely everything he has got and then some. Thunder and lightning, baby. Simply amazing.
The rest of the cast is great as well. Jonah Hill has come a long way. What a performance from him as well.
Scorsese is of course the man as always. I can't believe his level of energy. This is how it's done, Scorsese shows everyone the way.
I do have a problem (kind of major) with at least two song choices. This was the only area where Scorsese felt out of touch for once. Other than that it's definitely one of the best movies of the year.
