Michael Dang’s review published on Letterboxd:
First superhero movie of the year and it did not disappoint. Ryan Reynolds owns the role and he fucking destroys it, in a good way. Deadpool may not display a groundbreaking story in the superhero genre, but it just stays so faithful to the comic character that it just makes the movie so great. Deadpool is rude, violent, doesn't shut the fuck up and loves to crack jokes and all that and more was included in the movie.
Obviously everyone knows Ryan Reynolds is perfect as Deadpool. But can everyone just applaud Morena Baccarin's Vanessa for not being a typical damsel in distress, thank you writers of Deadpool for not making a bitch ass female lead. And also giving us 2 badass female mutants, Negasonic Teenage Warhead (fucking brilliant name) and Angel played by the bulked up Gina Carano. Honestly all 2 women and 1 Negasonic Teenage Warhead were hot in their own way. Even my girlfriend was drooling over Gina Carano and Negasonic Teenage Warhead (I'm sorry I just love saying that).
Also loved the opening, very creative and different. Also first penis shot ever in a marvel film, much surprise. Along with some wanking with a unicorn and pretty erotic sex scenes making this real to it's R rating...and I loved it. Here's hoping the last Hugh Jackman Wolverines movie to be R rated, along with a Deadpool cameo.
