Seven Samurai

Seven Samurai ★★★★½

I Accept Your Sacrifice.
Seven Samurai is a very intimidating film. Not only is it a three-and-a-half-hour Japanese film from the 1950's but it's synonymous with the title of masterpiece from one of the greats Akira Kurosawa. But one boxset purchase later, here we are.
Seven Samurai is without a doubt a beast of a film. It never rushes, taking its time to establish what is at stake and how each character will play an essential role in the impending danger. Kurosawa is known for his influence on cinema and it's easy to see why. This is such a dynamic film with so many moving pieces - the characters all have their own personality and every shot has so much energy behind it.
Seven Samurai's story has been told a thousand times in a thousand different ways, but that's added testament to the legacy and timeless quality that this epic has had on the industry that you can still see to this day.
