Jack Aling’s review published on Letterboxd:
I Don't Understand.
Starting off with a calm and soothing narration from Dafoe quickly dissolves into utter chaos leaving me to attempt to figure out what the hell Siberia was.
What I do know… is that it wasn't for me. I'm all for a bit of experimental insanity but this was just lost on me.
I dared not look away, not necessarily because I was invested but because I was trying my very best to piece together what was going on. It was just too tonally jarring but at least Willem Dafoe seemed to be having a great time between the gratuitous sex scenes and maypole dancing.
With a schizophrenic soundtrack and intense imagery, Siberia is definitely an experience, but not one I want to replicate for a long time.
