Spider-Man ★★★★

I Missed the Part Where That's My Problem.
For absolutely no reason at all, I decided it would be exciting to revisit the previous Spider-Man films to see how they hold up.
The 2002 Sam Raimi is a world away from the MCU spectaculars that they pump out today but I really enjoy the creative voice you can feel in every frame and the fact that they don't shy away from the wackiness of its comic origins.
It doesn't take itself too seriously which is what makes it so special and what gives its emotional hits that extra layer of intensity. Tobey Maguire makes Peter Parker his own and Willem Dafoe gives a brilliantly outlandish performance as the Green Goblin.
Love it or hate it, this film's legacy reshaped what a superhero film could be.
