Jack Aling’s review published on Letterboxd:
Imagine Ryan Gosling's character from this... In Drive.
I think Gosling has biggest range of any actor that I've seen for a long time. He can instantly fit into any role and he always seems to disappear into the character, which is especially impressive when you look like Ryan Gosling.
Just the right amount of dark comedy, crime thriller and buddy cop movie to make a surprisingly brilliant film. It really has no excuse being this good.
This is thanks to the the great script and direction by Shane Black and the chemistry of the main stars.
There are some really solid jokes and impressive action sequences but the tone shifts quite dramatically and because of that the film never really knows what it is.
This film was a hidden gem of 2016 that I wish more people would see.
