Director's Cut:
Alright so after many hours of pondering I've finally gathered my thoughts on this bizarrely incredible film. Like many i had a tough time understanding what exactly i had just witnessed but mostly thanks to this video i now fathom how genuinely brilliant the screenplay is and why it's gathered such a huge cult following. However with that being said, as good as it is, the film as a whole would be nothing if it wasn't for the phenomenal performance by Jake Gyllenhaal as Donnie Darko, and oddly enough i actually think this is his best work (Sorry Nightcrawler). It's a damn shame Richard Kelly has never been able to reach these heights again because this is truly special.
I hope that when the world comes to an end, I can breathe a sigh of relief, because there will be so much to look forward to.
