Only seen the film once in theaters and remember really liking but disappointed by the twist which soured my take on it enough to not revisit for 13 years.
Seeing again, it’s much more satisfying knowing the twist and seeing how Scorsese uses cinema technique to leave breadcrumbs, especially in the editing and even continuity.
Definitely more about the journey than the destination type of film.
As close as we’ll get to seeing Marty do a Horror film, or at least a gothic psychological thriller.

The Diary of a Teenage Girl 2015
Never saw this before and SO glad I have now.
Loved the honest, bittersweet take on a teenage girl’s coming into her own sexuality that is at times raw and harrowing but also joyful and beautiful.
The animation is a really wonderful touch.
Everyone in the cast is fantastic, especially Powley as the lead and Skarsgard as her lover/Mom’s boyfriend.
Shit gets sticky but that’s life right?
A confident, stunning debut for writer-director Marielle Heller.
