this wasn’t great. the first act was so boring that my roommate fell asleep but when eddie and venom meet up it gets better even though it still kinda sucks. pacing was fuckin weird. i don’t even know what else to say. when tom hardy breaks his legs he says “my legs!” and at that moment some kid in the very back of the theater said “my leg!” like fred from spongebob and it was hands down the best part…
this was also great! it does what a good sequel is supposed to do and takes the characters and relationships from the first then builds upon and develops them. i liked this but didn’t think it quite as good as the first. it’s actually pretty depressing for a lot of it but the ending more than makes up for it. excited for the third!
this is one of the most beautiful films i've ever seen. the colors, the shot composition, and the acting, my god what an incredible movie. sam shepard is my favorite playwright and he will be sorely missed.
(also i grew up in the mojave desert and when they're driving back from texas they're actually driving up the 395 past kramer junction. you can even see the old astro burger drive in on the left and it looks exactly the same as it did 33 years ago lol)
rip harry and sam <3
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
an interesting premise with THE WORST writing, a lame love story and irl clipping through the map
ties into the first cloverfield but not in a cool way. also does this mean these are trying to be an actual series with 10 cloverfield lane set in the same universe? or did they just take a lame noname scifi movie and turn it into a poorly executed tie in to the first movie to punch it up? probably the latter.
