pacing is inconsistent, especially after they get to ego’s planet when it just slows to a crawl. music and humor are much less naturally integrated than in the first. most action scenes were pretty boring too, which is a complaint i remember having the first time. i think it’s the unimaginative camerawork in certain sequences (lookin at you opening fight scene with baby groot) that made them less exciting than they should’ve been. also it’s just too long. did not need to be 2+ hours.

an interesting premise with THE WORST writing, a lame love story and irl clipping through the map
ties into the first cloverfield but not in a cool way. also does this mean these are trying to be an actual series with 10 cloverfield lane set in the same universe? or did they just take a lame noname scifi movie and turn it into a poorly executed tie in to the first movie to punch it up? probably the latter.
