this was much more musical than i thought it would be and i loved it—was nearly moved to tears multiple times in the first half. though i agree with others that said it feels like something is missing in this film. it feels vaguely incomplete like there’s something holding it back, especially in the second half, but it’s very possible that’s the intent. i really liked this though. it hit a lot of my beats.
this is one of the most beautiful films i've ever seen. the colors, the shot composition, and the acting, my god what an incredible movie. sam shepard is my favorite playwright and he will be sorely missed.
(also i grew up in the mojave desert and when they're driving back from texas they're actually driving up the 395 past kramer junction. you can even see the old astro burger drive in on the left and it looks exactly the same as it did 33 years ago lol)
rip harry and sam <3

an interesting premise with THE WORST writing, a lame love story and irl clipping through the map
ties into the first cloverfield but not in a cool way. also does this mean these are trying to be an actual series with 10 cloverfield lane set in the same universe? or did they just take a lame noname scifi movie and turn it into a poorly executed tie in to the first movie to punch it up? probably the latter.
