Josh Lewis’s review published on Letterboxd:
Pretty neat little documentary about Brazilian cinephile history as told through the city of Recife's evolving architecture and movie palaces. Kleber Mendonça Filho making good use of home movies, archival footage/photography and a lyrical editing pattern that locates present-day perspective on what this sense of decay actually means for those who live there and love these buildings and their history. Doesn't entirely avoid the "magic of the movies" sentimentality accusations while doing so but definitely most of them. I know guys like the projectionist in this movie and they are my heroes. Really made me wanna watch an old horror movie at the Sao Luiz.
