not the movie i thought it was going to be at all. a "revenge" premise subverted to be fully emotionally explored and calibrated stylistically to be as quiet and strange and mournfully anticlimactic an odyssey as the the process of artistic passion being drained by commerce/coming to terms with heartbreak can actually be. suffers a little bit from some of its generic underlit handheld indie limitations but cage is doing something very, very special here.
