Judas and the Black Messiah ★★★★

Simmering on a steadily increasing heat, Shaka King's throttling voyage into the Black Panther movement is haunting and indelibly memorable. Daniel Kaluuya, once again proving that he's operating on a whole other dimension, commands every ounce of his screentime with a determination that you can see battling the weariness of his Chairman's endlessly uphill war. It's a showstopping performance in a film worthy of his commitment. Lakeith Stanfield holds his own with Kaluuya, channeling anxiety that matches the wavelength of the powder keg film around it. This is the kind of film that puts most biopics to shame with its immediacy, authenticity, and harrowing fervor.

P.S. Some quick bite-sized Golden Globes thoughts for any of you interested.

Highlights:
- Kaluuya's win and speech.
- Chadwick Boseman's win and his wife Simone Ledward Boseman's incredibly moving speech.
- Iconic queen Jane Fonda's flawless speech.
- Rosamund Pike, Gillian Anderson, and Josh O'Connor's wins (I'm not even a fan of The Crown but I have a lot of love for the latter two actors).
- Mark Ruffalo's adorable family 🥺.
- Barb and Star.

Lowlights:
- Laura Linney not winning best actress.
- The Mandalorian not winning best drama series.
- Bob Odenkirk not winning anything (and Better Call Saul not being nominated nor winning) 😡.
- Maya Rudolph and Keenan Thompson's SNL trainwreck that no one asked for 🥱.
- Ricky Gervais not hosting resulting in no celebs being scathingly lambasted.

Scavenger Hunt 71 - Watch a film about a historical event or time period from country in which the film is set.
