A Woman Under the Influence ★★★★½

This is my first John Cassavetes film, and it blew me away. Every scene is exquisitely crafted in every aspect, and the tension is ever-present and always tangible. Cassavetes's direction is excellent and the editing and cinematography, though jarring and strange, are both very effective. Peter Falk gives a great perfromance, but the real reason this film is remembered is for Gena Rowlands's performance as Mable Longhetti. It is easily among the very best performances in film history. All this being said, a rewatch would definitely help to boost my enjoyment of the film.
