Paris, Texas ★★★★½

I must admit that I wasn't sure what to expect from this. I was aware that it was a family drama of sorts, but I wasn't really sure where it would take me. Despite this, I was intrigued and entertained by every minute of it. This is my first Wim Wenders film, and he directed excellently (I can't wait to see Wings of Desire). The acting was superb from each of the five central characters. Harry Dean Stanton's performance was of course the stand-out. Something I was worried about was that the little boy who played Hunter might be a bad actor and/or annoying, but I actually found his performance to be quite excellent and his character to be a great one. This film is excellent is so many ways and I love how it pulls you in until you're practically begging for answers. And, when you finally get some, it's so much better than you could have imagined. The ending is absolutely beautiful (the last two scenes are brilliant), and everything that preceded it held up to the same standard.
