I remembered this one as being better than it was. The screenplay was elevated by Spike Lee's directing choices and on second look the story seemed a bit thin and underdeveloped. Still a great portrait of NYC in the aftermath of 9/11.
Watched this with my seven-year-old last night. It was a first viewing for both of us. He was the perfect age for it and thought it was the funniest movie EVER. My husband remarked that it is kind of like ELF because it's about a person living in a fairy tale world coming to NYC. Amy Adams is wonderful, the movie wouldn't have worked without her.
