From the Land of the Moon

From the Land of the Moon ★★★★

Marion Cotillard is brilliant as a free spirited young woman coming of age in post WWII France who is forced to marry a man she doesn’t love only to realize years later the sacrifices he made for her happiness. Gorgeously directed by Nicole Garcia, this lovely story of a woman coming to terms with her life is beautiful and touches on everything from suppressed sexuality to depression. A lovely, intimate story with great performances from Cotillard and Àlex Brendemühl.
