Dan Bremner’s review published on Letterboxd :
I have a soft-spot for comedy-dramas about dysfunctional families, but this didn't do a lot for me. There were little moments I liked, like Abigail Breslin causing a tantrum only to find out it was only because she wanted to watch a colorized version of the 1924 Phantom of the Opera.
I found the performances all over the place. Meryl Streep trying far too hard at times making her acting show and giving the scenes an unnatural feel. Cumberbatch's accent was also horrific. McGregor was fine, but again, he should not be doing American accents.
It was merely fine. A messy and meandering film, but a watchable one.
