The Third Man, ever an elusive picture in my watchlist for years, doesn't play like one of the greats. It's initial mood is partially teetering between comedy and hard boiled mystery, but it's not serious. The writing for a majority of the first half feels timid and the direction feels safe. As one could say it's the greatest film of all time, I would have an extremely hard time agreeing and disagreeing with that statement, but nothing about the film…
