Cam Smith’s review published on Letterboxd:
that bit when Joaquin Phoenix has his eyes closed humming the song that his girlfriend back home sung to him was just SUPERB.
EDIT: This is only my second PTA film, but I can already feel his directorial style. Looking forward to Inherent Vice, Hard Eight and Magnolia among others up soon, but The Master was brilliantly shot- elegant and yet sometimes furious. Phoenix was incredible as was Adams, Malek and Hoffmann. Felt a bit tedious at times though.
