Wow....this is quite possibly the worst piece of shit I’ve ever seen. If I could compare this to anything, it would be a horrible hangover dump brought on by PBR and late night McDonalds.
Nothing great here. Has trappings of a Hammer film but doesn't sustain said trappings for it to be entertaining. In fact its quite dull and void of what you would expect from a Jack the Ripper film. Some cool canted angle shots and its atmosphere is gloomy and eerie, but that's pretty much all it has going for it.
This western is just a warm blanket film that I watch once a year. It's a lovely film by Howard Hawks that will stand the test of time. The dynamic between John Wayne, Dean Martin, Ricky Nelson, and Walter Brennan is so delightful and really makes you feel as if you're just hanging out with them in the town of Rio Bravo. It's simple setting, simple plot, and rich characters produces one of the finest westerns ever made.
It’s a decent little creature feature, midnight aquatic horror B movie. It certainly doesn’t bring anything new to the sub-genre. But if you like 80’s, underwater horror like LEVIATHAN or DEEP STAR SIX and comics like Scott Snyder’s THE WAKE then I think your certainly enjoy this. And yes - the obvious - THE ABYSS.
My huge complaints are I couldn’t tell what was happening during most of the moments spent outside of the drill base. Traversing through the “abyss”…
