"Well actually a plane...fell...on the train."

When it comes down to it, my favorite summer comedy. I've loved this since I was a kid and I still watch it a few times every summer. Hilarious with some terrific gags and performances.

    Summer School

    ★★★★

Kicking off July with a classic Matt Movie.

Used to watch this with my parents a LOT when I was a kid and I thought it was the coolest thing. It had been a while since I'd seen this and I'm so happy it holds up. Consistently funny with a TON of heart, I adore this fun summer romp.

That Bunnies From Hell gag is still an all-timer and tbh one of my intros to horror.

  • Blue Crush

    Blue Crush

    ★★★½

First saw this a few years back and was surprised by how much of a "real movie" it was. Bosworth is legit great here and the surfing sequences are thrilling.

Great stuff and a good way to kick off July.

Very happy that my husband introduced me to this years ago as I instantly fell in love. Jim Henson went all out with this and Dark Crystal, a true visionary. Bless that man.

    X-Men: Apocalypse

    Fun movie!

Never really understood the hate this one gets and the fact that I've seen people say it's the worst comic book movie when dogshit like Wolverine Origins exists is positively baffling.

Closest we've gotten to the 90s Animated Series on the big screen and that's a huge compliment.

One of the best and funniest animated films of the 90s. More than holds up.

One of the funniest stand-up specials I've seen in ages, my husband and I were fucking HOWLING.

  • Detroit Rock City

    Detroit Rock City

    ★★★★

Remember loving this when it came out and tbh I was worried it wouldn't hold up. Glad I was proven wrong.

Detroit Rock City is one of the best comedies of the 90s. A stellar road movie with a terrific cast and a ton of great gags. Add in a bitchin soundtrack and a rockin ending and yeah, it's a classic.

    Lin Shaye the Secret MVP.

Kiss fight a bunch of draculas, this shit rocks.

  • Captain America: Civil War

    Captain America: Civil War

    ★★★½

It can be a fun time when it gets out of its own way, but wow this didn't really work for me this time around. Such a shame that the third Captain America movie is essentially Avengers 2.5.

The Zemo stuff feels like it's in a different movie and I'm really tired of how the Russos shoot action. Some great character moments but other than that? Eh. It's fine.

Happy 40th to my favorite Ridley Scott movie that isn't Alien.

    A perfect movie, no notes.
