Spider-Man: Homecoming

Spider-Man: Homecoming ★★★

This 2017 Spider-Man reboot tells the story of a young Peter Parker who begins to navigate his newfound identity as a superhero and under the guidance of Tony Stark, must prove he has what it takes to become an avenger, when he faces up against the evil supervilan Vulture.

As always with Marvel productions, Spider-Man: Homecoming features many great action sequences, along with some great visual effects. However, one thing this film has over other Marvel epics is a fantastic villain played by the ever impressive Michael Keaton, who (despite having such a lack of screen time) still manages to steal the show.

One of the film's more disappointing aspects was its plot, which felt relatively underdeveloped in some areas and you can occasionally find yourself losing interest. The comedy also falls flat very frequently. That being said, Spider-Man: Homecoming is still an entertaining (if slightly passable) edition to the Marvel universe.

VERDICT - lacking depth and a decent script, Spider-Man: Homecoming is limited in its overall quality, yet it's ultimately saved by a strong Keaton performance, many solid action sequences and some great visual effects. Its not the weakest Marvel movie out there, but its nowhere near the best either.
