    Too weird to hate, and so single-minded in its defiance to be what it is that I kinda respect it, but it's definitely a big indicator that Carpenter lost the cultural pulse and had to tap out for a bit.

    It'll probably take me some time to come down from the high I got off of this movie so I can better articulate how much I loved this. This is Carpenter, but the right kind of Carpenter; a dash of Fincher but without the pomp and circumstance; maybe spat on by a little contemporary American indie horror. I was whooping and clapping, grinding my teeth and digging my heels. My reactions were guttural and frequent. Fuck profundity. I might find that last half-star after I untie the knot in my stomach.
