The best thing about this film is probably the timeless story it borrows from.
Weird lighting choices and visual direction in general, you can practically feel the smoke machine to the left during that visually boring fallen battlefield scene.
It fails in areas that are vital to make the story worth retelling in a new medium - worldbuilding & stylistic cohesion (switching from brutal realism to sci-fi to high-fantasy at random).
A tale like this needs to feel like a life-long…
