Although I watched this frequently when I was a teen, I hadn't seen it in maybe 15 years or more. I didn't remember many details, but I do remember liking it a lot. Rewatching it now, it is indeed a pretty solid and effective film. It has some good jumpscares, cheap maybe, but effective nonetheless. The performances are okay, but mostly David Naughton creates an empathetic character in David, even if his relationship with Alex feels rushed. Also, David's meetings with Jack are some of the best parts of the film. But one of the strengths of the film are the special effects, which pretty much sell most of it. Be it in Jack's decaying body, or in David's transformation. A fun one.
