Thomas McCallum’s review published on Letterboxd:
Really getting the feeling that this is going to be a theme throughout October, but the acting in Day of the Dead is beyond fucking terrible. It's just one giant eye roll.
As far as production goes I thought the special effects were amazing. Tom Savini was involved, so let's not act surprised. The soundtrack started off extremely weird, but as the movie pressed on it grew on me because this perfectly fitting cheese fest of 80's synth.
Lastly, the story was pretty weak. Zombies can't shoot guns. End of story. I can only do the suspension of disbelief thing for so long, then I just give up on your movie.
Overall - I guess it was entertaining enough. It was also equally cheese filled. Worth the watch if only because it's George A. Romero. Really.
