The Lighthouse

The Lighthouse ★★★★½

THE LIGHTHOUSE: A frothing descent into madness soaked in the trousers with comedy and cracking at the lips with horrific saltiness. I can only describe this movie as if being jubilantly swept up under a large wave and ingesting a face-full of sea water, only to be comforted by a stranger on the rocky shore handing you a rum-margarita mixer in a can to wash it down with intoxicating sweet monochromatic nectar. It’s hallucinatory yet pure, despite never providing any kind of narrative rock to latch onto. People just don’t make films like this.
