“Dazed and Confused” is the ultimate chillout comfort film. It has such a relaxing atmosphere. I mean, there isn´t even a real plot you need to follow. Instead you get chill 70s vibes, a fantastic soundtrack, great humor, timeless coming of age themes, authentic and engaging dialogue, and several quirky, loveable characters. Matthew McConaughey as the creepy but charismatic David Wooderson is probably the standout character, but most of them are great. The movie truly captures the spirit of youth.
The film has strong “American Graffiti” vibes but it also reminds me of the multi-narrative movies of Robert Altman and Paul Thomas Anderson. Actually, PTA´s new project will be a high school movie set in the 70s, so I guess “Dazed and Confused” will be an inspiration.
