Sean’s review published on Letterboxd:
At first glance, Yi Yi is styled as a tangible, down-to-earth family drama. But upon closer inspection, one is made aware of its' subtleties and imaginative reflections. These are made deliberately by Edward Yang as he shows us windows into his insight. "Can we only know half of the truth?" The way these musings play into the narrative is unspeakably profound. I really enjoy films that are structured in abstract ways, and the generational dynamic brought it home for me. Definitely one of those films you just have to experience.
