    ★★★★½

Miami in the 80s. Sizzling neon and Hawaiian shirts, lines of fine white being cut up by platinum cards. Scarface throws the alluring shadiness of its world in your face, sparing no expense.

The tale of Tony Montana scratching out a name for himself in blood, steadily riding to the top, is likened to the myth of Icarus, rewritten for a modern audience to give it flavor.

The final scene, the eternal slogan 'The World Is Yours', all alludes to the myth, as well as the lesson behind it: Fly too high, too close, and watch yourself burn. The world is yours- But at what price?

if i could go back to the day i watched this and watch it again, just to experience the same level of emotion i did the first time, i would. perfection doesn't even begin to describe this film.
