Guy who's only seen The Princess Bride, watching his second movie: wow, getting a lot of Princess Bride vibes from this!
In all seriousness though, this was totally engrossing and basically exactly what I was hoping for from an Old Hollywood horror movie. Boris Karloff knocks it out of the park with the identity theft plot, which is one of my all-time favourite movie tropes ever, by the way. Recommended watching for fans of Victor Hugo, old castles with secret passageways, single actors playing twins, A Series of Unfortunate Events, respecting women, and finally (and I cannot stress this enough), dog lovers.
