Loved it and loved the Navajo representation. We definitely need more films like this one. A heartfelt coming of age story.

Frybread Face and Me 2023
Absolutely loved this: an intimate look into family life on a Navajo reservation. Many laughs, some tears, many feelings! Incredible performances by the young leads along with cinematography and set design 🙌🏻
It almost felt too short but I think that’s fitting given the ending.

Frybread Face and Me 2023
This was a really lovely narrative debut for Billy Luther, and the experience of watching it reminded me of my experience watching Aftersun. Specifically, it's a quiet film about family being family, focusing much more on dynamics than explicit occurrences, yet it's never boring or repetitive. The setting absorbs you right away; not to wax poetic, but you can almost feel the desert breezes as you wander the res with young Benny, who is struggling to reset his expectations for his summer. Charley Hogan, who plays the titular Frybread Face, is a total standout, and I hope she springboards from here into a long, successful career.

Shoshana 2023
There’s something really refreshing about watching a movie about a conflict the director/writer has no emotional investment in, and I mean that in the least sarcastic way possible. It felt like a very fair and ambiguous portrait of a really complex situation. Also loved Gershwin so the score was a beautiful addition.

Shoshana 2023
Tiff #1 - world premiere
A well paced political thriller centered around the Israel-Palestine conflict in the 30’s while under British rule.
For about the first 30 minutes or so I couldn’t tell which characters were on which side of the conflict. I was able to figure it out eventually, and the second half is where it really shines, keeping you on the edge of your seat till the end.
Performances are good, with the standout being Harry Melling as a villainous British officer.
