Big Tim’s review published on Letterboxd:
"Our world is filled with codes."
Wonderfully, deliriously convoluted with a style that seems to borrow from the great stoner comedies and masters of mystery and suspense, Under the Silver Lake tells a meandering story that is just pure fun to experience. Inherent Vice is an easy comparison, but so is The Big Lebowski as well as influences by David Lynch, Alfred Hitchcock and Brian De Palma. After the spectacular, nostalgic horror of It Follows, writer/director David Robert Mitchell spins a stoner mystery masterpiece that feels like drug-addled journey through an L.A. we feel like we've seen before but exists in some sort of dreamland or deja vu. I can't wait to watch it again.
