I've seen this movie a few times now, and it always wraps me right up in what is really a super Goofy post apocalyptic world. The first scene sets up the tone really well... like Max is giving this intense opening monologue as the camera slowly pushes in on him and then WHAM he cartoon stomps a passing lizard and shoves it in his mouth. There's a balance struck here between a real emotional core and stylized insanity that I think is really impressive.
Love the edit so so much - the way that like 50% of the film is in that weird lower frame rate to give a subconscious anxious feeling... strangely sped up in that way... hard to describe but you get what I mean when you watch it..... lol
That blue night period in the middle of the film also does a great job of throwing a crazy pacing stop sign up and letting everyone catch their breath. Super cool. A true respite. Unabashedly opposed to the rest of the film. Badass!
Lots to say but yeah this movie is sick.
