    Space Jam: A New Legacy

I’m such a sucker for the ‘Tunes, man! This movie had me laughing like a kid again. So many good gags. Shoutout to Big Chungus.

Guess I’m not too bothered by the constant Warner catalog references because at most they just amounted to a bunch of flybys, they didn’t interrupt the plot too much.

    I had fun!

  • Bo Burnham: Inside

    Bo Burnham: Inside

Very impressed by and jealous of Bo Burnham’s special brain

He’s so damn creative. And he has a career as a gaffer if the whole comedian director performer thing doesn’t work out. Impressive solo project to the max...

Jeffrey Bezos - “You did it!” “Congratulations!” Made me laugh and laugh

  • Salesman

Anyone else get Truffle Hunters vibes?

Amazing feat of verité - feels like a very modern film despite depicting a long obsolete profession.

And it’s FUNNY. Paul is confusing and pathetic and fun and empathetic. Love the supporting cast who just come across as fully organic (most of the time) despite the cameras in their faces

Selling is an exhausting art form

  • The Warriors

    The Warriors

Can't believe how many different gangs there are out there. So many sequences where they just showed ensemble after ensemble each with their own creative flair and coordinated ~look~ ... amazing stuff. Love the sheer power and authority of the Riffs... undeniable alphas.

Also that little worm from the bad guy gang is such a little worm he's really the perfect actor for this.

The good guys in this movie were a little hard to root for because they, too,…

    The Wizard of Lies

Made a great choice to sort of gloss over the specifics of Madoff’s confusing multi layered scheme and instead focus on his conscience and his relationship to his wife and sons. Compelling emotional stuff. Was he a sociopath?

  • Another Round

    Another Round

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

Mads M is a killer actor - but - maybe it’s a cultural thing but I really couldn’t understand where he was coming from at the beginning of the film. Is that the danish version of the man who is burnt out on life or is he actually depressed and should see a doctor? I feel like the movie took a beat or two too long to get on its feet.

I liked that it showed both sides of the…

  • The Father

    The Father

Really well paced and well written to keep me intrigued and always on my toes. Took about two scenes for me to instantly begin to doubt everything I was seeing on screen.

Anthony Hopkins dome did it again

Perfect sad sweet ending. Maybe the only Happy ending possible. Yeesh. What a gut punch!

    A scary movie

  • Bad Trip

    Bad Trip

Did not expect to laugh this hard for this long... so annoying that the shock factor actually worked on me again and again. I screamed! For like 60% of the movie!

Impressed by the production that went into something like this. Lots of careful planning and great execution. Incredible that the four actors involved can get what they need out of a scene with real life people as co-stars. It’s just cool filmmaking, man! Lots of behind the scenes gears…

  • The Farewell

    The Farewell

Really great premise for a movie. Wasn’t as sad as I thought it was going to be, and it was funnier than I thought it was going to be. Really hope Awkwafina’s posture isn’t actually that bad!!

Grandma stole the show. I think she knew all along, the last shot where you see her kind of hints at that? But they never explicitly say it... which I appreciate it. But they barely hint at it... which I don’t appreciate!

Really want to visit that city! It looks awesome. The fucking fooooooood dooooood

  • Mad Max: Fury Road

    Mad Max: Fury Road

I've seen this movie a few times now, and it always wraps me right up in what is really a super Goofy post apocalyptic world. The first scene sets up the tone really well... like Max is giving this intense opening monologue as the camera slowly pushes in on him and then WHAM he cartoon stomps a passing lizard and shoves it in his mouth. There's a balance struck here between a real emotional core and stylized insanity that I…

  • Mortal Kombat

    Mortal Kombat

IDK what it is but I was really into this one! SO violent - like I had to close my eyes a lot but that was expected based off of the video game. Speaking of which - I just think it's really cool how they managed to make a film that feels very organic and true to what really boils down to a very simple game. Fight scenes were all great - the Kung Lao "Flawless Victory" part was super fun, the evil people seemed truly evil. I like how people discover their superpowers kind of like Sky High...

    Great watch!

Also turned this one off mid movie. Two stinkers in a row tonight. The songs in this are flat out BAD

Can’t deny that AH is so intriguing tho!
