Maybe if I watched this 17 times, and set up a 3-dimensional whiteboard in my garage war room, I could deconstruct and reassemble this story into something coherent. Maybe not.

I thought this movie looked swell, and I did like the score….but so what. Shouldn’t the baseline for a director like Nolan, and several hundred million in budget, be higher than technical competence? Such is the risk in telling a story most won’t understand - what else is left?

I’ll likely watch this again, and probably before any number of franchise films out there. Yes, Nolan is pushing the auteur thing well into absurdity. But he isn’t generic, and maybe this was just a risky endeavor that fell short of his other work. I’m OK with that.
