This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
This is the first Halloween movie to feature an LGBTQ couple, who are then promptly and gruesomely killed off. That sums up the movie for me: it sets the stage to be different and daring but fails to deliver with several disjointed storylines and an overall underwhelming narrative. As a whole, it does nothing new or creative with the story.
Plus, as Siegel pointed out, how many times is this movie going to remind us that it's set directly after the original? I lost count after 40.
