Slowly going through my neverending Watchlist
Visually impressive, some great editing, performances and gore - but just not a good movie
The plot is messy, I found myself confused and bored most of the time
It’s a shame because there’s some good ideas here - but not fully realised or that effective and definitely not scary
What else can I say but Masterpiece?
Difficult to watch, but a Masterpiece
War brings out the worst in humanity and Kubrick is able to bring that directly to the screen in the clearest way possible: through powerful dialogue/ performances and impressive, effective camerawork where every frame is really saying something crucial
This film really did make me feel uncomfortable, similar to Full Metal Jacket or A Clockwork Orange
The last scene was perfection
I really hate giving 1/2 star reviews.
I only give half a star when I'm watching a collection of images and sounds put together as a "movie" such as "Nail Gun Massacre" (1985) or "August Underground" (2001).
This thing, (I'm not comfortable calling it a movie) is a checklist of ideas that studios and producers had to conform to in order to make money.
It's global business, not creative art or cinema.
