Chad Anderson’s review published on Letterboxd:
Hyunsook had not seen this and was awfully reluctant to do so in spite of the Spider-Man fun in Captain America: Civil War. She enjoyed it, though I was obviously the one having much more fun.
I really enjoyed the casting. Micheal Keaton has really been delivering some great performances lately, between this, The Founder, and Spotlight, where he is really able to capture a sort of upper working class aspirational hustle as part of doing a good job. Marisa Tomei is an awesome Aunt Mae. Tom Holland really fills to capture the Peter Parker essence better than everyone short of maybe Tobey Maguire in the 2002 movie.
There was an open question whether Tom Holland could carry a movie on his own after his Captain America appearance, but this certainly shows him able to do so.
I look forward to more Spider-Man for the first time in quite a while.
