    Before the film there was an Amazon Prime ad that told us to silence our phones (good, fine) and not to make out in the movie theater (hunh? why?) Pissed me off.

    The Cat Returns

    Had anticipated the movie would be much more po-faced than it was. It's goofier and cartoonier than most Ghibli, which suits the doofy subject matter. Tim Curry, of course, strange and good as a dissipated pervert villain. Andy Richter quite good as an unctuous, amoral little weirdo.

    I guess it's a little weird that a girl should be initiated into adulthood through admitting her crush on a cat figurine, to the cat figurine — but even this I am prepared to believe.

    The cat is named HUMBERT though?!?!!! That I could not believe.
