  • Silence

Silence has been said to be a passion project of Martin Scorcese and you can certainly see why. This is a powerful and moving film about pride and belief in religion (specifically Christianity). The cinematography by Rodrigo Prieto is stunning and gives a haunting unpredictability to the Japanese landscape. Andrew Garfield was the standout in this film giving a passionate and believable performance. The film also contains great and heartbreaking performances from Adam Driver, Liam Neeson, and Yôsuke Kubozuka. Unfortunately,…

    Hacksaw Ridge

This movie is an emotional roller coaster with incredibly brutal depictions of WWII. Mel Gibson did an incredible job directing this film. Everything from the battle scenes to the heartwarming scenes between Doss and his lover. Andrew Garfield gives a powerful performance in this film along with other great supporting performances around him. Overall, Hacksaw Ridge is another fantastically directed movie by Gibson that contains great performances, breathtaking action scenes, and a powerful theme of standing up for your beliefs and pushing yourself to the limit for the well-being of others.

An incredibly unique film with fun twists and turns. One of the things I loved about Shyamalan's older films was his ability to build tension. In this film, he returns to form keeping me on the edge of my seat throughout the entire run time. Anya Taylor-Joy is brilliant in the film with a deep and touching backstory, but the other two lead girls seemed pretty bland and kind of annoying as the film progresses. James McAvoy delivers what many…
