Todd Russell’s review published on Letterboxd:
Oliver Stone directs this football movie about the Miami Sharks fight to get into the football playoffs. Seasoned pro Cap (Dennis Quaid) gets hurt and leaves way for Willy Beamen (Jamie Foxx) to rise to the situation and shine. The coach, Tony (Al Pacino), tries to keep everybody playing together.
Football fans will find everything to like about this hard driving movie which keeps the pedal on the metal of the game itself, barely taking any interest in off field drama, which I found refreshing. If you don't like football, however, this could be a detriment. Also, Oliver Stone movies tend to be on the longer side, and this one clocks in, somewhat unnecessarily, at over 2.5 hours. Still, it's recommended.
