Todd Russell’s review published on Letterboxd:
The true story of Ron Woodroof (Matthew McConaughey) who refuses to accept an HIV AIDS death sentence in 1986 and goes abroad to smuggle in drugs for not only himself, but others infected. The FDA and large pharmaceutical companies are the antagonists in Woodroof's fight literally for his and others lives.
Jennifer Garner plays a sympathetic doctor embroiled in hospital bureaucracy. This is one of those maddening human dramas where you feel for the common person, the patients and really against the big corporation and government that chose to deal with the disease out of fear instead of trying to do whatever they could to save lives like Ron Woodroof. I didn't know the story of Woodroof until seeing this movie but it is very impactful. Great film, solid acting and script. Recommended.
