Needful Things

Needful Things ★½

Leland Gaunt's shop, Needful Things sells whatever you need. His price, involves some troubling deed. Based on the Stephen King novel of the same name, this seems inspired at least in part by the old Twilight Zone episode, "What You Need."

This is more eerie and supernatural than scary. It was a theater release that earned $15 million, but it has all the feel and execution of a bad TV movie. This isn't one of King's better novels and, frankly, neither are recommended. Would make a good 30 minute teleplay, too repetitive for a full length movie. This, unfortunately, plagues several Stephen King adaptations.
