Todd Russell’s review published on Letterboxd:
The Borg have reached earth and they are taking aim at assimilating earth of the future by time traveling into earth of the past and preventing First Contact.
This represents the best of the Next Generation Trek films but suffers from relying on time travel which was done better in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home.
Star Trek has overused time travel, like whenever they need a good story, they just work in time travel. Did we need time travel in this story? Not really. How about the Borg fighting the Enterprise and down on Earth in the future. Just skip the Zephrim Cochran First Contact part.
From an action and adventure stance, however, this is a solid film. The Borg are just as menacing as they were on TV. Upon rewtaching, I liked how humor was used at key points in the episode. It earns a recommendation and another half star for bringing back the Borg.
