Todd Russell’s review published on Letterboxd:
"I'm Santa Claus, Teddy, not Yoda."
Netflix original with Kurt Russell playing Santa Claus?! Yeah, I was skeptical with the casting, but Russell is a hip, funny 2018 (how did I miss this coming out last holiday season?) Santa Claus. Two kids try and prove Santa isn't real in this catch it on video day and age, but accidentally crash Santa's sleigh, separating him from his reindeer.
Enjoyed the real world 'doubt Santa is real' treatment that Santa gets thrown at him in the restaurant when he needs a ride and people are treating him like some kind of nutcase, despite the fact that he knows their names, who they are and what they have always wanted for Christmas. Cracked me up.
I could go on and on with other mischief scenes with a night those who encounter the Snake Plissken Escape from New York Santa will never forget, but don't want to spoil the first time viewing fun for you.
(!!!!!!Elves!!!!!!)
Do you enjoy these movies where people question whether or not Santa is real? This one tickles that holiday fancy and does it well. It has made my yearly rewatch rotation for the off the hook Santa portrayal by Russell and a joyful script. Recommended and liked!
