seeking to escape sadness and anxiety through movies that make me sad & anxious
visually stunning, portrayal of anxieties associated with the early stages of farming and rural life-making as i have never seen before, beautiful and honest portrait of what it means to be family & what it means to hold onto or let go of dreams. loved so much the characters david, grandma, and paul (of remember the titans fame?!?!? what a transformation, caught on bc of voice/accent)
loved the depictions of relationships, most notably friendship, and the setting. unexpectedly more like never rarely sometimes always than the revenant, as focused on navigating life and relationships at the margins and on situating these challenges in a place rather than just man v wilderness.
